In September 2010, Howard took part in the Big Bad Bike Ride in the Highlands of Scotland, raising over £4000 for Ataxia UK, the charity which supports research into potential cures for Friedreich’s ataxia. Along with two friends, Howard joined 160 other charity cyclists, covering 75 undulating miles and braving persistent drizzle along the way. Howard finished the challenge in just five and a half hours and managed to only fall off once! Unbelievably, Howard then managed to celebrate with a ceilidh in Pitlochry that night….
