Marshall Zoing uses The Risk Profiler to determine a client's attitude to investment risk and calculate a client's appetite for risk. The Risk Profiler is a risk profiling questionnaire developed by Towers Watson, a Global Investment Consultancy firm, and is a series of questions that enables Marshall Zoing to produce a risk score for clients of between 1 and 10, with 1 being the most adverse to risk. Compared to other risk-managed solutions, the Towers Watson Risk Profiler is able to determine the level of risk acceptable to our clients with greater consistency and sophistication.
Once the risk score has been established, the next step is to identify the mix of different asset classes within a client's portfolio - this is known as asset allocation. The asset allocation for a lower risk level portfolio will have greater exposure to lower risk asset classes such as cash, whilst still providing some exposure to the higher risk asset classes such as Global Equity. Similarly, a higher risk level portfolio will have a far greater concentration of higher risk asset classes.
The Marshall Zoing Investment Committee meets on a regular basis and reviews the asset allocation for each of our risk profiles (1-10). The Investment Committee consists of Howard Marshall, Ralph Zoing, Michael Best (Cert PFS, G10,G20,G60) and Vivien I'Anson (Cert PFS). The Investment Committee has nearly 90 years collective experience in the industry.
The Investment Committee reviews the preferred list of funds to populate our asset allocation. Fund analysis is done through research, investment meetings and seminars, meetings with fund managers and independent analysis using Financial Express. Each fund sector is monitored at least three times a year and where there is a requirement to look at a sector in greater detail outside of its review period this will be done.
At the Client Review, either annually, half yearly or quarterly, the client's Risk Profile and asset allocation is reviewed to ensure that the asset allocation is in keeping with the client's correct risk exposure.
We firmly believe that our rigorous Investment Process and disciplined attention to risk control sets us apart from other advisers and will best serve our clients in the long-term.
